About
Dr. Emilio Fentanes is a cardiologist, Director of Cardiac Imaging and Cardiovascular Research, and Co-Director of Echocardiography at Brooke Army Medical Center. As a cardiologist, he cares for adults in general cardiology, preventive cardiology, and valvular disease. As a complement to his clinical interests, he is involved in cardiovascular disease research with a focus on preventive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, and the impact of cardiovascular disease on active-duty service members and tactical athletes. Dr. Fentanes holds an appointment in the Department of Medicine as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is also part of the core faculty of the Adult Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program in the San Antonio Health Education Consortium. He is involved in medical students, residents, and fellow education. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine’s 6-year BA-MD program. He completed an internship and internal medicine residency at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI, an adult cardiovascular disease fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, and an Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston MA. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, a Member of the American Society of Echocardiography, and a Member of the Society of Cardiac MRI.
