Dr. Lawrence Yao is a fellowship-trained musculoskeletal radiologist with special expertise in MRI applications and image processing. Dr. Yao is an independent, subspecialized diagnostic imaging consultant, and is also a staff clinician at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He has held academic appointments at UCLA, where he was an Associate Professor of Radiology, and at Georgetown University, where he was Director of the MR Center. He has also served as the Director of MRI at the Magnusson Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Yao is widely published in the fields of orthopedic imaging and MRI, and collaborates with intramural researchers at NIH who study inflammatory myopathy, graft-versus-host disease, and ankylosing spondylitis. Dr. Yao is interested in strategies that improve the precision of imaging as applied to clinical studies.
